Windows 7 for Real Estate Agents Edition 5

Styling your system by Richard Tausch

o Screen Resolution, Gadgets, Personalize: Background, Display, Screensaver, and stuff like that

One of the first things you will want to do with your new Windows 7 system is to configure your screen resolution for visual comfort and clarity. Let’s get started. Right-click anywhere in the middle of your desktop where there are no icons or links and then left-click on Screen Resolution.

Now you will see a screen like the one below. Now select the Resolution setting and you’ll get a slider bar. Adjust the settings to your liking. This may take doing a few times to get it just right.

Let’s take a quick look at Gadgets. Again, right-click anywhere in the middle of your desktop where there are no icons and then left-click on Gadgets. There are a few Gadgets here and you can choose what you like to have on your desktop. I prefer the clock and the calendar. All you have to do is hold down your left mouse button on the Gadget you like and drag it to the desktop where you want it. Bada Bing Bada Boom.

Now let’s look at desktop icons and themes. Once again, right click on an area of the desktop with no icons and left-click on Personalize. In the left hand column, click on the Change desktop icons. I always prefer certain icons such as Computer, User Files, Network, and Recycle Bin. These icons also help us at CCAR Tech Support troubleshoot your system. Place a check mark in these checkboxes and then click OK. Now you are back to the Personalize screen.

In the next article:you will learn how to navigate Windows 7.

Here´s to happy computing!
