Changes to CAR.org registration and retrieval process

C.A.R. recently reviewed and redesigned the member registration process and the process used to retrieve or reset a username and password for car.org (www.car.org ). As a result, the number of steps required to do so has been reduced. Below is an overview of the process.

The new registration process is being simplified and the number of validation fields will be reduced. A member will be required to enter his or her last name and NRDS ID, and select the primary local association. The new registration system also requires the member to have a unique e-mail address and a current membership record in NRDS. Once successfully validated, the member will be able to create a username and password, and select a secret question/answer to assist with future account retrieval.

If car.org detects missing or malformed data within the NRDS record, the member will be given the option to provide the correct information. The updated data will be forwarded to the appropriate primary local association via e-mail for processing. Members who have previously registered with incomplete member information will be prompted to submit updates whenever they access the “Change your login settings” link from the log in box of car.org).

Additional changes also are underway to the “Forgot Your Info” login recovery process.

These changes will be implemented beginning May 14 and will be completed by June 4. On May 14, when members log on to their member profile, they will see an alert if their member record contains missing information fields. Members will be prompted to submit updates via a pop-up box. On May 21, additional changes to the “Forgot Your Info” login recovery process will be rolled out, and on June 4, the streamlined registration process will be put in place.
